Web Vice | Vue Society, Rachel Kim
By Kimberly
So Bellevue isn’t the worst place in the world you could be, with it’s AHHI, and it’s liberal diversity. It’s one of the more accepting cities in the world and the only way it gets better is if you are interlacing nostalgias of NYC. You see, I met Rachel through craigslist, back when people were meeting and not murdering. Back when you could find a killer job without worrying whether you were going to get dragged into a back alley and mugged for your resume.
Rachel, with her optimistic tone and exuberating persona, moved back to Bellevue and found a love…of smart life, style and culture sprinkled with the former musings of NYC.
VueSociety.com is a great personification of the friend Rachel is, it’s fun, entertaining and cleverly endearing. We don’t travel outside of our demo (NY, LA, London, or Paris) very often…but experiences in the melting pot brought home are worth the prose.
Check out Rachel’s trip to NYC. Every true fashionista knows, there is nothing wrong with Forever 21, as long as you are young enough to wear it, old enough to pair it with ‘Signature Staples’, and expensive enough not to look like a ‘cheap chick’
This blog is definitely worth bookmarking, and one to add to the master list. If you speak to Rachel, tell her I said hello, and to enjoy the VUE!

Style Profile | Supermodel Jessica Stam finally feels at home in her NYC pied-à-terre
By Kimberly
Jessica Stam has a similar mystique. Although not an orphan, Stam was brought up on a farm in rural Ontario, Canada. She lived in a Victorian house, had a cow named Bessie and a collie named Lassie, and was the only girl amid six strapping brothers. A modeling scout discovered her in 2002, when she was 15, sipping hot chocolate at a doughnut shop. After a year of crammedmodel apartments and go-sees, she mused Steven Meisel, and her face, with its huge eyes and small pointy chin, become the defining look of the aughts (shared by other “doll face” or “alien girl” models such as Lily Cole). In 2005, Marc Jacobs named the quilted, nouvelle old-lady satchel the Stam in her honor. Currently, she stars in ad campaigns for Ricci Ricci perfume and Aldo shoes; fashionista-meets-hipster label Rag & Bone interpreted a few of her favorite wardrobe pieces for their spring line (check out the jumpsuit!); and she’s working on a three-piece capsule collection for Rachel Rachel Roy for Macy’s.

StyleUrls.com is a great compilation of fashion sites. If you are one for browsing the fashion web and don’t quite know where to start, StyleUrls is an aggregator that pulls together the best of the web in one place. It displays news, videos and pictures from the trendiest websites & blogs, displaying them all on one page. Whether you’re an editor, blogger, fashionista or shopper, StyleUrls.com is the one and only page you need to visit to get all of your fashion news.
The idea behind the site was to bring together the top fashion blogs, magazines, pictures, and videos all on one page. There are so many sources on the internet with fresh and relevant content, it would be almost impossible to actually go on each site on a daily basis. So the StyleUrls team wanted to make it easy and fun for anyone/everyone to scour the fashion world with just a scroll of the mouse. They are announcing other aggregators soon, stay tuned.

Web Vice | Style Blogs: The Best of the Web
By Kimberly
So, you have a thing for blogsters? You have recognized the power of independent press. In fact, you are a loyal patron hungry for more blogs to add to your daily devour. Luckily we love bloggers as well, whether they’re bitchin, bantering, babbling or boasting, we love them all. Allow me to introduce a few this week’s faves. Enjoy!
1) Jak & Jil takes the cake, I mean if you are one for Street Fashion, you will love this blog. Most in the fashion industry already know about it. But, if you are just breaking your fabulous way in, now is the time to get to know the blog. It’s fun take on crisp fashion photography will leave you in awe of how the photographer manages to always capture the perfect shot. Keep in mind, it’s street fashion, and not overly contrived editorial so the fact that Tommy Ton is a master at catching the perfect angle is beyond me. I love it! Need I say more?
2) Styleite is a blog, I think? CMS, Blog, what’s the diff? Anywho, we love the way they rank the fashion industry. I mean they have a way of turning the most sought after industry in the world into a highschool popularity contest. I ran into Andre Leon years ago at Tracy Reese’s runway show, it’s nice to see him make the front page of Styleite as a mainstream influencer, after all he pulls mad weight in the fashion industry.
Styleite reminds us all what it’s like to aim for popularity and actually attain it. I mean what’s google analytics if you have a website devoted to telling you how worthy (or unworthy) you really are according to the fashion elite.
3) Modelina captures the essence of why we all love models. They are beautiful, skinny and sometimes rich. The blog keeps us up to date with what they are wearing and who’s hiring them. As if we weren’t fascinated enough about who’s a friggin model and who’s going to be a model. We can look forward to Modelina feeding our model obsession and hopefully capitalizing on it.
4) The Village Voice, why you ask? Because they caught a picture of Oprah and Pharrell dancing at the Met Gala after party. Not only was there a pic of O, but Anna Wintour was snapped getting down as well! Gotta love it, ain’t no party like a Met Gala party…After all of the raving about the Met Gala event, these pictures were probably the best I’ve seen. Makes me want to wander over to the Village Voice more often.
5) Fashion Nerdic is another good one (thought i’d throw in a yougin). It’s a blog written by an eightteen-year-old fashion addict with impeccable taste. She always wears her heels, and reports from the the Netherlands. She contributes to the blog to vent her fashionable perspective and to keep herself current. She lives in Rotterdam, and is a student (I find the best blogs are written by students BTW
) Fashion Nerdic is an eco-gal and works in a shop teaching about creative recycling and spends every euro she earns on clothes, shoes, purses and what ever else she finds appealing. Check out the blog, if for no other reason, the gal’s got style. She’s sure to inspire a wardrobe rework and revamp. To be honest, she made me want to throw away all of my clothes
Though there are millions of blogs out there, these are the one’s that caught my eye. If you would like to suggest a few for the next go round, email me: Kimberly@POSHGLAM.com

Web Vice | Brunch at Saks, Ray Ban Wayfarer
By Kimberly
Annemarie, Brunch at Saks Author, ponders whether the Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses are Trendy or Classy:
I really do, but often times I wonder if I’m wearing them just because. You know, because Audrey did in Breakfast at Tiffany’s; because Ferris brought them back to life in the 80s;because Madonna sported them on magazine covers; or because they’ve recently made a come back with young Hollywood so all the stores are carrying them (knock-offs included). These super chic and comfy things truly have me stumped!
Brunch at Saks is a captivating blog centered mostly around home style and decor. I found the post, Trendy or Classy, while browsing the blog.
Though Olivia is a hard pill to swallow, it’s interesting to see that she’s become a muse in her own right. After Tuesday’s episode of The Hills, when she snubbed Whitney’s collection in front of the Elle team, I started to wonder, who the fuck is she? It’s almost as if she emerged out of thin air with an opinion. Though, I have to remind myself when watching, The Hills is a docu-soap. Reality TV thrives on friction and drama and someone has to play the bitch.
So, back to the Ray Bans, I’ve often wondered myself how they fit into the Style Mix. Are they Classics or a reoccurring trend? Though they have a certain “Je Ne Sais Quoi”, I can’t quite pinpoint why every decade or so, everyone starts raving over them and begins to phase them back in as wardrobe staples. Chock it up to good PR and careful placements, I guess. Or, maybe they are just as functional as the claim to be…

Web Vice | It’s Unbeweavable
By Kimberly
Wake up one day and realize that as much as you love your family and friends, the only person you can count on is you. Wear heels at all times. Swagger. Step on toes to get ahead. Do things you aren’t proud of. Blame it on the “industry”, blame it on “fashion”, blame it on the rain-but never take responsibility. It’s never your fault-this is your dream. Focus on the superficial. Diet, work out, shop, have cosmetic procedures done at a young age like it’s your job. Disillusion yourself to believe that it IS your job to look a certain way. Perfect the once over and the smirk. Feel a weird pang in your heart when you visit your parents and they don’t recognize you based on your attitude. Dismiss this. Stop talking to friends you grew up with, because you can’t believe they could possibly be happy at 21, married and pregnant. Meet new people, tons of new people, everyday. Reinvent yourself and shed skins of days past-never reveal you are the daughter of a former pastor and your hair hasn’t always looked so perfect.
Work. Work hard. Get THE job. You’re an executive at one of the worlds most well known fashion brands. Your thoughts count. Spend your days in meetings with VP’s, CEO’s and Directors fighting for the creative side in a corporation-easier said than done. Witness things you only thought existed in movies. Get screamed at, have calendars thrown at you, get called horrible names, listen to lies being told by your boss and avert your eyes, while wondering how the hell you’re supposed to respect her later. Laugh at yourself for thinking your thoughts counted. Watch quietly as your work friends who aren’t in these meetings get thrown under the bus. Do not defend them. Never once stop to think all this madness is ridiculous, that you don’t deserve this, instead berate yourself for not having a thicker skin. This is your dream.
After the meetings are over, walk back to your office with your team. Notice how silent everyone is. Or, if you’re lucky enough, walk back to your office alone. Cry. Silently. When the building security guard stops you to check for your security badge (which you refuse to wear because it’s fugly) scream at him. Tell him to go fuck himself. Apologize profusely. Cry harder, tell him he is such a nice guy and you know he was only doing his job and you are so sorry and you never do that but that meeting was the worst and you’ll never forget your badge again and how is his wife?
Become so ashamed of yourself. Leave the building in a daze. Sit in your car and call a friend you trust, listen to her go on and lecture you about how you should never go back, you can find another job, “ELIZABETH THIS IS INSANE LISTEN TO YOURSELF”. She doesn’t understand, this is your dream. Decide not to listen to her, or yourself, and instead, toughen up. Go back in, refusing to feel like failure.
Get invited to more parties, networking events and openings than you can possibly attend. Forget about the hell of the work day as you bypass the lines and say, “Im on the list” in your perfected tone, dragging your girls with you, wearing a new dress you “borrowed” from the sample closet. Wonder if your girls would be hanging out with you if it weren’t for all the perks. You learned that trusting girls and living this dream do not go hand in hand. Laugh. Dance. Drink. Talk shit on all the guys in their deep VAmerican Apparel shirts showing more cleav than you.
Back at work the next day, conduct interviews, model castings and meet with editors from Vogue, In Style and Elle. Walk through the lobby to greet them with such an air of self importance it will, when blogging about it a few years later, make you want to vom. Watch how they look at you, get off on the envy. Feel embarrassed writing this now.
Start to really dislike yourself and feel your anxiety soar. You have lost yourself. Do not blame it on the industry, fashion, or the rain. Blame yourself. Take responsibility. Make changes. Cut ties. Recognize you can’t undo the damage overnight…There are repercussions for your actions, patterns you’ll have to break. Know that underneath the 5 inch heels and hair and makeup and clothes, you’re a nice girl with a big heart. Find solace in that, hold on to that in the times when you feel lost the most. Feel the disappointment in yourself. Embrace it. Allow it to make you want to, need to be better.
Reinvent yourself again…re-pave your road, not just with mascara but with a vision of what kind of person you want to be. Decide not to run away from fashion, IT IS YOUR DREAM, but become determined to run things your way. Wear heels at all times. Your thoughts DO count. Work. Work HARD. Always remember that day you screamed at a security guard as one of your worst moments but never forget it. Forgive yourself. Remember what you love about fashion. Continue to make fun of guys wearing deep V American Apparel shirts who show more cleav than you. Struggle with female relationships, and work on breaking that pattern. Hold on to the girls you can trustand never let them go. Start writing and sharing your experiences and the little things you love with the world. Swagger. Evolve. Love.
It’s all part of MY dream.
