Fashion Week Reflections from Chris Collins

There comes a time when everything flies by you at the speed of light, especially when New York Fashion Week is happening all over the city at a hundred different locations. Now I’m reflecting on my experiences at New York Fashion Week.
Betsey1 Fashion Week Reflections from Chris Collins

I started off the new week with the Betsey Johnson Spring 2011 show at the Theatre in Lincoln Centre. If Betsey had shown early in the morning she’d have given me a wake up call, better than a java jolt with her always colorful and daring designs. Her quirky style manifested itself onto a huge screen behind the runway of her riding her bike around the city. R&B singer, Ciara’s eyes twinkled beside me, as she was evidently enthralled by the collection.

Next on the docket was the Perry Ellis Spring Summer 2011 collection, thankfully located at Lincoln Centre in the Theatre, steps away from the Betsey show. This was one of the few designers I could identify with, it being a men’s collection, I was highly anticipating it. Perry Ellis took a journey outside of my expectations, but gave me great jackets and shorts for Spring. Using great colors, took the collection another level, light reds and pink mixed with great earth tone sweaters and blazers.

I left fashion week on Monday, with ideas for my own wardrobe. Real men wear pink right??  Ha!

Two days later I showed up for the Michael Kors Spring Summer 2011 show, it was simply, beautiful and elegant as always. Employing a lot of white and light color blues, I’d describe this collection as very classy.  Michael Kors is a genius when it comes to spring, he makes everything feel so fresh. The collection had great blazers and sweaters, chic women’s suits, some impressive black and white dresses, not to mention the gorgeous swimsuits. I may have been slightly distracted by Donald Trump’s hair sitting in the front row…

Rolando1 Fashion Week Reflections from Chris Collins

One of the many off-site events this season, Rolando Santana took Fashion Week to the intimate and classy Griffin lounge. Jessica White and I sat front row to preview this beautiful collection of great dresses and jackets. It was spring elegance. I’d call this collection cocktail dresses for spring, I was blinded by glitter and shimmer.
