With all the buzz this year surrounding the Middleton sisters, sometimes one can’t help but wonder what all the fuss is about. Their style appears mostly plain and structural; not a lot of fun in their wardrobe. Luckily, we can still count on Vogue to see though the belted work dresses and trenches. In their annual Best Dressed issue, on stands tomorrow, they’ve announced a different set of girls as the year’s most fashionable sisters: Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. All is still right in the world. The twins’ two lines, The Row and Elizabeth & James, have been wildly successful, and they practically invented Homeless Chic – you can choose to thank them for that if you want, or just chalk it up to a lesson learned the hard way. “We were called eccentric and eclectic,” the 25-year-olds tell Vogue “But we were just two California girls trying to dress for the New York winter.” After feeling the winds in NYC last week, we’ll let that one slide. They’ve come a long way, earning their first CFDA nomination this year.
In addition to beating out Kate and Pippa, the also topped Beyonce and Solange. Dakota and Elle Fanning came in at number 2.
Do you think they made the right decision? Or should have another set of sisters earned the top spot?
