Iman in Victoria Beckham Fall 2010

By Faith

Essence Magazine has been surrounded by controversy due to the latest appointment of its new white Fashion Director, Elliana Placas. A flurry of comments have been made for and against this new shake-up, but this time should be nothing but a celebration for the publication. This year marks Essence’s 40th anniversary and to belittle such an important milestone with this argument truly doesn’t do it any justice.

No one could ring in the anniversary better than Iman, which she did at the New York Stock Exchange. She has been a fashion pioneer since before I can remember and who hasn’t aged a bit since she first took her place in the spotlight. Iman chose a beautiful form-fitting dress from Victoria Beckham’s Fall 2010 collection. She accessorized with a gold belt and simple yet elegant Christian Louboutin peep-toe pumps.

Amid all this controversy, it is great to see a woman of color who has triumphed against all odds and who continues to be a source of inspiration for women from all walks of life. See Iman’s dress on the runway below and visit www.victoriabeckham.com for more looks from the collection.

Romona Keveza Takes Fashion From The Red Carpet to the Aisle

By Samantha

When it comes to fabulously crafted eveningwear, those “in the know” turn to Romona Keveza for her architecturally stunning and feminine gowns that have dazzled since their inception in the marketplace. Keveza does not design gowns, but rather she creates the entire soiree for the glam lady wearing her piece, as they will be the main attraction of any event. After all, Keveza was one of the designers (along with Armani and Galliano) selected in 2008 to design a gown for Swarovkski’s “Unbridaled” exhibition in Paris.

The New York based designer started her career selling ready-to-wear for a myriad of high profile clients that included Jackie O. From there, she established a private-label eveningwear label and then a special-order bridal gown business for her VIP clientele. The rave reviews to her collections resulted in the Romona Keveza brand, which has been worn on the red carpet by A-listers from Iman and Angelina Jolie to Juliette Lewis and Queen Latifah. Most recently, newcomer Lea Michelle wore a Romona Keveza gown to the Grammy’s, and was a best-dressed contender unanimously.

Keveza’s most recent evening-wear collection is chock full of luxurious fabrics, intricate detailing and dazzling silhouettes. From short flirty frocks to gorgeous gowns, each dress appears light and sits fabulously on the body, which is a testament to their impeccable tailoring and the fine attention to each detail, all of which add to the definition and style behind each piece.

Romona Keveza is listed as one of the top 5 bridal designers in the world. Her bridal collection, Legends by Romona Keveza, is sought out by the elite in the style world, and by those that have drooled over her gowns in numerous bridal publications. Whether it is for photographers on the red carpet, a glamorous evening affair or the ultimate walk down the aisle, Keveza’s masterpieces are an easy choice. Sophisticated, feminine and utterly refined, Keveza has gained the trust of A-listers and blushing brides alike with her signature pieces that will forever stun.
