Inaugural First Family Fashion | Michelle, Malia & Sasha

Michelle Obama Inauguration Inaugural First Family Fashion | Michelle, Malia & SashaBy now, we’re all fairly certain that Michelle Obama’s style will go down in the annals of fashion (and U.S.) history as that of one of America’s most glamorous and fashion forward First Ladies. From Alexander McQueen to Jason Wu, the First Lady really knows how to pick ‘em when it comes to gowns, day dresses, and basically anything else. At the second inauguration, and as the First African American First Lady, Michelle was decked out in Thom Browne, J Crew, and layers of pearls. Very (first) lady like and very chic.

The Thom Browne dress coat, from the designer’s Pre-Fall 2013 collection, was a gray-blue color with a delicate navy blue pattern. The pale gray J Crew Valentina heels were a good compliment, while the purple J Crew gloves added a pop of contrasting color. I love how she didn’t go for the obvious red, white, and blue color choices. Her grayish blue coat and purple gloves were a great take on the typically patriotic colors, but still allowed her to wear some very stylish and in-season shades.

Daughters Malia and Sasha were styling as well for the occasion. Malia wore a bright plum colored J Crew day coat paired with red tights and red patent leather flats.  Sasha was wearing a beautiful purple Kate Spade coat paired with black tights and metallic blue flats. These girls’ fashion choices are becoming more mature and sophisticated and we do have to say that we’re totally digging their classy, teen trendy style.

After the inauguration ceremony, Michelle changed into some more comfortable (and warmer) Reed Krakoff leather and suede boots. Nothing says fashion-forward diva like a quick outfit change. In a good way, of course icon wink Inaugural First Family Fashion | Michelle, Malia & Sasha

Stylicon: Sarah Jessica Parker Gets Her Own Jean | Level 99

Sarah Jessica Parker Level 99 Stylicon: Sarah Jessica Parker Gets Her Own Jean | Level 99SJP Fashion: ever since her days on Sex and the City, Sarah Jessica has become an icon, fearing no outfit (or criticism she gets for said outfit). That being said, on her downtime, she prefers much more casual outfits than Carrie Bradshaw did. Sarah Jessica is constantly seen around town wearing Level 99 denim. Whether she’s walking her twin daughters, Tabitha and Marion, to school or just running errands, she’s always cool and casual in denim. Although she has a vast collection, it seems that Level 99 is her favorite.

She was recently seen in New York City wearing the Level 99 Janice Ultra Skinny Jeans in Brown mamba. She paired the animal print jeans with a turquoise top, turquoise heels and a brown overcoat. The best part about the way Sarah Jessica wears jeans is that she is the epitome of someone who can either dress them up or dress them down. In November, she was seen wearing another pair of Level 99 jeans when walking her son, James, to school. She cuffed this gray pair at the ankle and paired it with a long sleeve T, denim jacket, beanie, converse, and sunglasses. Whether she goes for a more casual look or decides to dress it up a bit, SJP always seems to get it right. It just makes me wish I could put together an outfit like that.

Sarah Jessica wears Level 99 jeans so much, in fact, that the brand decided to design a pair and name it after the star herself. The Sarah jeans will be available in Summer 2013. With their baggy fit, distressed look, and ankle length, these jeans seem to be the perfect SJP look—casual, cool, and stylish. We can totally see SJP rocking these jeans around NYC this summer.

Stylicon: Q & A w/@LoveBScott

AskBScott Stylicon: Q & A w/@LoveBScott

Tell me about your Ask B. Scott Column on LoveBScott.com:

Throughout my career, my love muffins have always asked me for advice and my thoughts on certain topics so I saw it as a great opportunity to connect with them on a personal level. My ‘Ask B. Scott’ column started years ago with Honey magazine and I was pleased when EBONY reached out to me earlier this year and wanted to continue.

How do you define beauty?

I define beauty as celebrating what makes you unique.

What are your thoughts on people embracing who they are?

It’s essential to manifesting your dreams. I also feel that it’s a daily process of exploring, getting to know yourself better and walking in your truth. Part of embracing who are is realizing that you change over time and being able to accept that.

What are your thoughts on bullying and what solutions do you think are effective?

Being someone who was bullied as a child, I know how hurtful that can be. I believe it’s everyone’s responsibility to make sure that they aren’t condoning or ignoring it’s presence. The more people who stand up against bullying, the better.

Describe your beauty routine…
Actually, right now I’m in the process of expanding my B. Scott Beauty products. I will be revealing my beauty regimen through them in 2013.

B. Scott is… (fill in the ellipsis)

…every girl’s best friend. The Multimedia Maven. And a businessman.

Three words that encompass your style?

Androgynous. Eclectic. Bohemian.

Do you consider yourself a social media ‘personality’?

No, I don’t see myself as a social media personality. I see myself as a brand, which social media helps to promote.

Is there anything you would like to share with our POSHGLAM Readers?

Your individuality, which is often expressed through your personal style, affects you and how people percieve you. It’s definitely something that you should take pride in.

Thank you! xx

MAC & Carine Roitfeld | “Violating Codes of Bourgeois Elegance”

MAC Carine Roitfeld MAC & Carine Roitfeld | Violating Codes of Bourgeois Elegance

Waiter, we’ll have a little virtue with a side of feminine corruption, thank you very much! We are beyond excited about the collab between M•A•C Cosmetics and Carine Roitfeld. Yesterday, Roitfeld and John Demsey, Group President, The Estée Lauder Companies hosted an exclusive ball to celebrate the launch of Roitfeld’s first-ever color collection at the historic Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild, during Paris fashion week. Roitfeld, stylist, image-maker and muse, has revolutionized the world of fashion with what she calls “violating the codes of bourgeois elegance.”  Blurring the line between sensuality and sophistication, with a bit of rock’n’roll and a sense of humor, her irreverence and razor-sharp instinct has penetrated fashion with street style laced with discreet erotic Parisian femininity. Roitfeld has taken the classic smoky eye and transformed it into a true work of art. For the M•A•C and Roitfeld partnership, she edits her signature look into a collection of chic colors and tools for recreating her couture looks. The FLUIDLINE Blacktrack ($15) can be used to create cat eyes that will have your date purring in the palm of your hands and his eyes will follow your CARINE ROITFELD NAIL LACQUER Undercover Nude ($17.50) fingertips all the way home. You can only dream of being a fly on the wall at this party! Beauty and fashion die-hards rocked the night away to live music performed by “Brit blue-eyed soul” singer, Paloma Faith, (the newly minted pop star’s “Picking Up The Pieces” is a must-download) and guests were invited to experience Roitfeld’s avant-garde version of the smoky eye look with the “Good Luck Star” beauty spot. The VIP guest list is a biggie, but we were lucky enough to rub elbows with some of the notable attendees including Karl Lagerfeld, Kanye West, Alexander Wang, Jenna and Prisca Courtin Clarins and Karlie Kloss.

Sheer Sexy Blouses for Chilly Temps

Sheer Blouses Charlize Sheer Sexy Blouses for Chilly Temps

Don’t sacrifice fashion for chilly temps. Fall doesn’t have to mean claustrophobic turtleneck sweaters or heavy textures. Fall 2012 runways were bursting with sheer, sexy blouses that will inspire buzz-worthy, jaw-dropping commentary the next time you strip off your parka at a party.

Don’t fear sheer because of Hollywood’s fashion faux pas (a la Kim Kardashian and Lady Gaga). The Helmut Voltage Long-Sleeve Sheer Tee ($105) is a little librarian-with-a-side-of-sexy, especially when your friends catch a glimpse of your abs. And, don’t forget a black bandeau underneath – it’s never a good idea to alarm the crowd with your headlights. A favorite of Charlize Theron, the Vanessa Bruno Long-Sleeve Sheer Top ($215) in navy is stylish for both day and night. The sheer navy blouse features floral appliqué embellishments, but won’t completely hide the mystery of your silky skin.

Painting the town red is on your schedule for the evening, but, when coming from work, it is a challenge to get both outfits right. Rihanna put the T by Alexander WangSheer Long Sleeve Boat Neck Tunic w/ Pointelle Sleeve Detail ($275) on the map when she strutted around New York City this summer. This transparent tee is the perfect hidden fashion gem as the fishnet-style piping down the length of the sleeves gives your ho-hum office look an edge. The white Cushnie et Ochs Button-up Blouse’s ($358.50) sheer, silk-chiffon back panel is all the superlative you need when walking out of a negotiations meeting, especially when you’ve won.

We’ve all been there when next month’s rent is already spoken for on that to-die-for clutch. Believe it or not, Forever 21 is like going to a work convention dinner – hot and a lot. Just think, for the price of one designer top, you can get 10 at Forever 21 and even afford the toss them at the end of the night. A frequent hot spot for starlets including Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus, Forever 21 has it all – check out the Sheer Vertical Striped Shirt ($19.90), the Striped Tie-Hem Shirt ($17.80) or the Sheer Ditsy Geo Shirt ($19.90) and you’re set for the weekend.
