Go Vintage With Patricia Nash Handbags

By Faith

There aren’t many things in life that are better than a vintage bag: the worn-in look and feel of it; the unique and original quality. For Fall, Patricia Nash is giving all us vintage-lovers some handbags to lust over.

The Knoxville, Tennessee based designer has created a line of Italian-leather handbags that are not just beautiful, but wearable. The Praga Flap bag (pictured above) features floral detailing in contrast with the rugged leather for a piece that is feminine, animated and impossibly cool. The pieces have an antique feeling to them and seem to tell a spirited story.

The best part about Patricia Nash’s handbags is that no one piece will cost you more than $250. The Barcellona Saddle bag is available for purchase now and the rest of the collection will be available at www.dillards.com this month.

Stay Warm With Adrienne Landau This Fall

By Faith

Fur is all the rage for fall and is a necessity for any winter wardrobe. Adrienne Landau has some of the best furry pieces of the season in scarves, hats and so much more.

Though it might be too warm to wear for Spring 2011 Fashion Week in New York City, her fall pieces might prove perfect for its end in Paris. Or one could go the Rachel Zoe route and wear fur year-round. Either way, these pieces are must-haves. The Fur Loop Scarf (pictured above) is a wintry take on the trendy accessory made of pieced rabbit fur. Other standout pieces are a fur trapper hat and zipped vest in leopard-print fur.

Start preparing for cold now and buy Adrienne Landau. Visit www.shopbop.com to purchase and www.adriennelandau.com for more pieces from the collection.

Chloe Sevigny Rocks Ippolita Jewelry

By Faith

Chloe Sevigny never fails in the fashion department. Her style is one-of-a-kind and she goes places that most are afraid to. At HBO’s Post-Emmy Party, she opted for jewels from Ippolita to add some glam to her leopard minidress and Christian Louboutin Madame Butterfly booties.

Ippolita’s design beginnings started in her hometown of Florence where she learned to appreciate Renaissance art and architecture, eventually earning her Baccalaureate in Sculpture from the Istituto d’Arte. Her signature is her gold jewelry which she took months to perfect and which she believes connects her with her customer: “Jewelry is emotional. The very color of my gold jewelry attracts you to it.”

She launched her 18K jewelry collection at Bergdorf Goodman in 1999 and has since risen to fame in the industry. Each of her pieces is made by hand, which makes each piece unique and special.

Sevigny chose Ippolita’s gold Glamazon® Link Necklace and the Glamazon® Link Bracelet which are both available at www.ippolita.com. View her entire look below.

Buy Now: Giuseppe Zanotti for Christopher Kane Fall 2010 Footwear

By Faith

Everything Christopher Kane creates is coveted and memorable. His new design job (along with sister Tammy) for Versus is a favorite of editors and “It” girls worldwide.

Just in time for Spring 2011 Fashion Month, his shoe collaboration with Giuseppe Zanotti has been released for purchase and surely the pieces will fly off the shelves. The footwear is a perfect blend of function and intricate construction: leather booties with lace-up and cut-out detailing. They juxtapose with the Fall 2010 Ready to Wear comprised of black leather, lace and floral embroidery in true Kane fashion.

Let’s see which editors, bloggers and celebrities will be wearing these during Fashion Month. Visit www.shopbop.com to purchase and see looks from the Fall 2010 Collection below.

Buy Now: Camel Outerwear

By Faith

Camel outerwear is all the rage for Fall and it has been seen on runways from New York to Milan. As cold weather approaches and my must-have list grows, this item is number one as it is a total investment piece as well being a classic that can be worn for years to come. When all else fails, go minimal.

Miuccia Prada designed the coat above which takes on the look in a double-breasted and shiny leather style, measuring at around knee-length. Other designers went for more simplistic tailoring including Dries Van Noten with a blazer and Michael Kors with an oversized coat, while Valentino opted for a ruffle trenchcoat.

Below are some of my favorite choices for Fall.

Acne’s Wool Galaxy Coat. Behnaz Sarafpour.

Dries Van Noten. Alexander Wang.

Ann Demeulemeester. Michael Kors.

3.1 Phillip Lim. Valentino’s Trench Coat.

Zac Posen. Undercover.

Spend Fashion’s Night Out with Monique Péan

By Faith

Fashion’s Night Out is just days away and my schedule is filling up like I’m sure yours is. On the top of my list is a stop at Jeffrey New York to do a little shopping and to meet famed jewelry designer Monique Péan.

Péan started her socially responsible and eco-friendly fine jewelry line in 2006.  Through it, she raises awareness of indigenous people all around the world (she has traveled everywhere from Mozambique to Bali) as well as awareness of the world’s most pressing ecological issues. She has collaborated and shared profits with Alaska House and Charity: Water, among others. Péan’s philanthropic efforts do not stop there as she also provides scholarships to underprivileged Haitian high school students in memory of her sister who passed away when she was just sixteen years old, as well as a post-MBA mentorship program in collaboration with Yale School of Management and Management Leadership for Tomorrow for minority professionals.

Péan has made a pair of limited-edition earrings just for Fashion’s Night Out that will be sold exclusively at Jeffrey. They are limited to 25 pairs and retail for just $300, so they will surely sell out in minutes.

Visit www.moniquepean.com for more information and gear up to meet CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Winner Monique Péan.

Jeffrey New York. 449 West 14th Street. New York, NY 10014.

Line to Watch: We Are Owls

By Faith

As Fall approaches, nothing is more essential than the perfect scarf. Neutral colors always work best, but it is often more fun to buy one in a funky print that will not only serve its purpose of keeping your neck warm, but that will also brighten your spirits as the days grow increasingly colder.

We Are Owls is a new scarf line that combines function with a playful spirit. The line’s first collection is debuting for Fall 2010, but the designs and prints are far from amateur. Ling Chen is the mind behind the company. She is a native New Yorker and started honing her skills in Fashion Design and Illustration at the world-renowned Parsons School of Design. The line’s name comes from her obsession with owls: the way they visualize the world and their nocturnal and mysterious, yet beautiful nature.

The scarves echo something dark and supernatural with skull and skeleton motifs, but for every dark piece there is one that is bright and animated. Aside from the alluring prints, they are made of top-notch cashmere yarns, soft to the touch and perfect for all-day wear.

We Are Owls is truly bringing something unique to accessories this season, blending function and art seamlessly and effortlessly. Visit www.weareowls.com for more information.
