Indian glitterati rejoice! The Queen of Prints herself, Diane von Furstenberg, continues her quest for international fashion domination with a glamorous evening in Mumbai. At a private dinner hosted by KITSCH and Vogue India, guests had the honor of mingling with DVF in the flesh. KITSCH, which is DVF’s exclusive partner in India, invited top clients to meet the designer and some of the most well known people in the Indian fashion industry, including Kangana Ranaut, Preity Zinta and Suzanne Roshan. Jacqueline Fernandes and Avantika Mallik also made an appearance at the exclusive event supported by American Express.

Besides having one of the most well-known and successful commercial ready-to-wear lines, Diane Von Furstenberg is also president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America and her infamous jersey wrap dress is part of the permanent collection at the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Needless to say, Mumbai’s fashion scene was more than happy to welcome her. Other notable Indian glitterati in attendance included Chitrangada Singh, Queenie Singh, Sophie Chaudhary, Shobha De, Chetan Bhagat and Aki Narula amongst others.

Popular Indian accessory designer Rachana Reddy has launched her website e-store, and her fun, original collection is now available to international buyers.

Though her collection debuted only two season’s ago at Lakme Fashion week, her collection of clutches are already popular in her native country, and are sure to be a hit in many other countries.

Her three current collections, Lotus Sutra, The Global Gypsy, and *Beam* (the newest collection)

Lotus Sutra offers a wide array of rectangular wooden clutches with traditional designs and details (like the lotus flower and paisleys) etched into the surface. Although they are somewhat traditional, many are still very modern, with pops of bright pings and teals, and simple, peacock feather and geometric designs.

The Global Gypsy takes what Lotus Sutra started, and ran with it. It’s a “Nomadic collection at hear.” and the variety of shapes remind us of a trip around the world, including secret beaches and tropical rain forests. There’s a variety of woods in this collection, and the designs are much more intricate.

Reddy’s latest collection, *Beam*, will appeal to westerners the most. The designs were inspired by “sunshine, moonlight and all that is bright and illuminating,” and isn’t that the truth. The smooth wood clutches are wrapped in gold studs, and would definitely get a second look from envious friends and neighbors. It’s not like you can blame them, everyone’s looking for that special piece that no one else has, just don’t be too selfish when they ask where you got it.

The *Beam* clutches average about $140, and the Lotus Sutra and Global Gypsy collections price around $170. They’re even customizable, so remember it’s never too early to start shopping for the holidays.
