Minna Pops Up

Wandering down Portobello Road, you come across the stylish boutique From Somewhere. The store usually stocks their own recycled collection but this week they have collaborated with Junky Styling, Sonya Kashmiri, MTLabels, Nina Dolcetti, Kayu and Minna to produce a sustainable fashion pop up shop. From Somewhere assured us that sustainability is key in fashion  and they try their best to be as environmentally friendly as possible. All the clothes look fab, but the stand out brand is Minna, a London based ethical label. The Spring/Summer collection is showcased perfectly in the simple white shop.

Minna’s floaty and feminine designs stand out for their simple prettiness. Bows and frills adorn lace garments in hues kept mainly to white and cream. There is a distinctly antique feel about the designs, giving them a sweet but unique look. Dresses dominate the collection and they are sure to make you feel like vintage style queen!

Minna has always been conscious of the environmental issues arising from fashion design. Organic, fair-trade and recycled materials are used wherever possible. All designs are handmade in the UK and waste is minimized wherever possible. Sustainable and ethical fashion production is becoming ever more prominent and it is good to see designers trying their hardest to combat issues. The support this London group shows for ethical and sustainable fashionin the formation of the pop up shop really helps promote this idea and push it as standard for the industry.

The other brands on sale range in styles, with Junky Styling’s skirts East London cool the opposite of Minna’s Notting Hill elegance. All the collections are certainly worth a look! The pop-up shop launched on Thursday and runs to July 3rd, so head on down and support some of London’s best sustainable fashion designers.
