#Throwback! On Campus: ‘Swag it’ Out with Sweats

Sweats with Swag #Throwback! On Campus: Swag it Out with Sweats

It’s 7:30 on a Monday morning. Awakened by your cell phone’s alarm, a sound that has conditioned you since week two of second semester, you jump out of bed crippled with anxiety. Scrambling to get all of your belongings together for class, you reach straight for the neon Victoria’s Secret sweats and throw your hair into a bun. More concerned about making it to class on time than looking fashion forward, you’re out the door and ready to go.

Does this pattern sound familiar? Of course it does. Having lived on a college campus, I’ve witnessed both myself and my peers fall victim to this vicious cycle. I mean, who’s thinking skinny jeans at the crack of dawn? Certainly not me. While your appearance may be the last thing on your mind the morning after a late night study/romp session, there are ways to seep your street style swag AND still be comfy.

While some of you may be a bit reluctant to splurge on loungewear, it’s an investment you want to look into. High-end lounge apparel brings more opportunity to the wearer to create a comfortable, high fashion outfit without looking sloppy. Sweats from stores like Victoria’s Secret are not only cliché and turn you into a walking billboard, but also limit the possibilities of the other elements in your outfit, as the sweats are just too bright and busy.

Nailing the sweat pants look is very simple if you can keep a couple of things in mind. Here’s a list of rules that will allow you to keep the swag in your sweats.

  1. Go for neutrals. Bright tones are too distracting and defeat the purpose of dressing down.
  2. Pair your sweats with cute shoes. Instead of plummeting your outfit deeper into the lazy spiral by throwing on Uggs or moccasins, try a pair of low-heel booties. They’re comfortable, but won’t make you look like you just rolled out of bed.
  3. Texture. Texture. Texture. Sweats can be found in various different kinds of fabrics. Try out a knitted pair to mix things up and make your outfit more interesting.
  4. Accessories seal the deal. We all know that accessories have the potential to transform a look. Adding a chic necklace to a simple outfit   can make you go from blasé to Bensoni in a matter of seconds.

Label Love: Loubis Gotta Thing for Digi-Luxe iPad Cases, Just in Time for S/S 2013

Christian Louboutin ipad cris Label Love: Loubis Gotta Thing for Digi Luxe iPad Cases, Just in Time for S/S 2013 iPads used to be cool. They were new, they were expensive—they were every tech-obsessed fashionista’s digi-dream. But nowadays, with version number 8,937 out, iPad’s are so passé. Everyone has one, and if you don’t, you don’t matter. The truth is, if you want to step up your iPad game and set yours apart from everyone else’s, you've gotta pimp it out. And by pimp it out, I mean you gotta put a case on it. If you like it then you gotta put a case on it (to the tune of Beyoncé, duh).

Anyways, Christian Louboutin, purveyor of our favorite red-soled, beautifully crafted shoes, has come out with some awesome iPad cases for their Spring/Summer 2013 collection. And while their iPad cases aren’t red soled, they are beautifully crafted. Anyone can go to China Town and grab a knockoff Gucci or Louis Vuitton case for their iPad, but if you really want to set yourself apart, then these are for you. Fashioned out of supple leathers, luxurious pony, or soft fabric, and finished with studs and a wrist strap, this is the ultimate way to say, “Up the ante, I’m richer that your socialite mother.

We personally love the blue, green, leopard, and tartan print, but they’re obviously all nice enough to be seen with in public. As was previously noted, pimping out your tablet is definitely a necessity, but with these iPad cases you can luxify them as well. The combination of fabric slash leather with the studs give these a high-class with an edge feel that we are very in to. And for between $695 and $895, it’s a fairly reasonable way to make everyone in your office (and just your life in general) want to rip off your style…luckily enough for this design team, Loubie's got a kick-ass legal team to chase them down…

We Prefer Nude — For A Healthier Wealthier You

Nude skin We Prefer Nude For A Healthier Wealthier YouLiving a luxurious and glamorous lifestyle has its perks, but it can also have its drawbacks. While vacations on tropical islands and late nights spent partying are fun, they can wreak havoc on the skin. Sun damage and pollution combined with lack of rest and stress leads to some serious wrinkles. And no one wants that. Even if we could protect ourselves against all of these factors, there’s only so much one can do before our skin loses its youthful appearance and shows signs of age. Wouldn’t it be fantastic if our skin could stop aging itself? I mean, what if there was a way to stop the environmental factors from affecting your skin so that it could keep its youthful glow? There’s a new product that can assist in fighting aging on its own.

Unlike other products, Nude Skincare has a new line of anti-aging beauty care, that features 11 products, that actually help your skin to produce it’s own anti-aging ingredients. Made in France, facial cleansers, serums and everything in between, these products help you look your best and minimize aging using your body's own chemistry. Formulated with n-probiotic technology and vital omega oils, they work with your skin to keep you looking radiant and youthful. Together with a prebiotic, a peptide, and a flavanol, they "increase skin’s innate immunity and reduce cellular ageing, allowing the skin to protect itself against environmental aggression, UV, pollution, and inflammation."

Sounds like a lot of science, but basically the ingredients in this line of skincare help your skin to protect itself against all types of factors. How cool is that? In fact, their tests showed that within 24 hours of use, skin started to produce it’s own anti-aging properties. And since we’re not planning on giving up our vacations, late nights on the town, or big city living, this product seems kind of wonderful.

Celebs, Fashion, Los Angeles, Lovit, Runway to Red Carpet

The Golden Ones: Jennifer Lopez, Kate Hudson, Taylor Swift, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Lawrence

Golden Globes 2013 The Golden Ones: Jennifer Lopez, Kate Hudson, Taylor Swift, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Lawrence

Hollywood’s brightest were out in full force to kickoff red carpet season at the Golden Globes in Los Angeles on Sunday. The stars dazzled their way down the red carpet in a sea of chiffon, silk, and sequins. Although the awards are important, the fashion is what we really tune in for, and this year was not a disappointment. Even though we’d love to chat for hours about all the dresses, that’s kind of impossible (in case you haven’t noticed, we like to talk a lot). Sadly, we don’t have time for that, so we’ve picked our favorites to share with you.

Jennifer Lopez looked absolutely amazing in a stunning Zuhair Murad number. The gown was nude with ivory lace, and she complemented it with diamond earrings and long, curly tresses swept over to the side. Are we the only ones who agree that Jennifer keeps getting better with age?

Kate Hudson donned a black Alexander McQueen gown. The keyhole neckline, which was complemented by gold accents around the neckline and waistline, showed off some major cleavage. She kept the hair and accessories sleek and simple.

Taylor Swift rocked a very sexy Donna Karan gown. The deep plum satin hugged her curves and the low back was a hidden surprise. With her swept up hair, she looked older than 23. But in a good way. The singer, who was up for the best original song award (which she lost to Adele), had to endure some jabs from hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Hey, even if she does change her boyfriend like we change our shoes, at least she looks good doing it.

Jennifer Lawrence’s red Dior Haute Couture gown, complete with a slim metallic belt around the waist, was very glamorous and chic in a 50’s kind of way. The best actress in a comedy winner had her brown locks up and accessorized with drop earrings and a silver minaudière. The strapless gown looked amazing on the Dior spokeswoman.

Jessica Alba stunned in a coral Oscar de la Renta gown. The actress looked like a knockout, complementing the look with a glamorous diamond necklace, curly hair, a tangerine clutch and peachy lips.

New Years Fab Solutions 2013

New Years Fab Solutions 2013 New Years Fab Solutions 2013

New Year's Eve is days away and whether you plan on moving on from that lame-ex or losing weight, you're probably thinking about making some fun and adventurous serious changes. We'll all tweet about our resolutions, but let's be real: we'll forget about that promise within hours of waking up on New Year's Day. Focus instead on changing yourself at your core – and I don't just mean toning your abs. Now, repeat after me:

In 2013, I resolve to…

1. Lose the Lames: Drop dead weight, I'm not talking calories, Negativity Sucks! Whether your baggage rests in your lame ex, your overdramatic friend circle, or issues at work, it's time to shed all of that excess weight from your personal life. Enjoy who you are and embrace your destiny.

You have control over what happens in your life, including who is in it, where you are, and what you're doing. Problems with money, family, location, or a bad partner are all walls that you mustn't build higher…knock them down. Baggage doesn't exist unless you allow it to take root. Don't be scared to drop it, Move On

2. Fall in Love…with more than just Yourself: Love others first: "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' love those who love them." Luke 6:32

Filter out the haters, including you and embrace the love you have for everyone. If you have an significant other, love them more. If you don't, start spreading the love via dating within your realm. It's important to be the lover that you want in another. Whatever you want in a significant other, you must mirror it to the T for compatibility and synergy. Likes to Likes, Law of Attraction!

3. Kick the Can't: There is no uglier word than can't. "You can do if you believe you can — The Mastermind" — Napoleon Hill

It's a forced red light on your mentality. You can't finish that paper? You can't start your dream boutique? You can't tell that special someone how you feel? Yes, you can. You just don't think you're capable or good enough to achieve these things. The only thing you can't do is sprout wings and fly. Cut the can't and realize how capable you are of achieving everything you want. No more excuses.

Remember: you can't take big steps without first making sure that the ground is still beneath your feet. Raise your glass to you and have a fabulous 2013!
