Atlanta is an emergent luxury market with quality niche events and local celebrity influences. Black Hollywood’s own, Boris Kodjoe recently hosted fundraising cocktail event, highlighted by a silent auction featuring Hublot’s signature 38mm Big Bang timepiece. The watch is a multiple award-winning chronograph encrusted with stainless steel and Pave diamonds, and known for its contemporary, yet elegant design.
The winning bid by Jarrod Huey, president and CEO of Concordia Anesthesiology Incorporated, was for $12,000. Huey bought the watch as a gift for his wife, Genisse, with all proceeds going towards the Sophie’s Voice Foundation, a charity founded in 2008 by Kodjoe in honor of daughter, Sophie, who was diagnosed with spina bifida at birth.
Hublot auction’s attended and co-hosted by Boris Kodjoe founder of Sophie’s Voice Foundation, with additional guest attendees included: City of Atlanta Mayor, Kasim Reed; Atlanta City Council Member, Keisha Lance Bottoms; outfielder with the Colorado Rockies, Dexter Fowler and wife Aliya; and more.
The proceeds from the event went directly to the foundation, a charity devoted to putting an end to the spina bifida, a neural tube defect in which the bones of the spine do not completely form, resulting in an incomplete spinal canal.
