Here are ways you can donate to relief efforts:

1. American Red Cross

Thousands have gone to Red Cross shelters across the East Coast. Besides providing a roof over peoples’ heads, the Red Cross has mobilized meal and relief supply efforts.

Donate through the Red Cross website or call (800) 733-2767. You can also text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

2. The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services has begun collaborating with emergency management officials, as well as preparing dozens of mobile kitchens (canteens), each capable of serving 1,000 meals per day. Follow their updates on their website.

3. Global Giving

Global Giving is a Washington-based organization which will use funds to support relief efforts by organizations working in damaged areas, including International Medical Corps in Haiti, which was also impacted by Sandy.
