After her earthy-crunchy nuptials to filmmaker Adam Shulman in Big Sur, CA, we spotted a cropped Anne Hathaway shopping in Los Angeles carrying her Stella McCartney Grace Embossed Faux Nappa Shoulder Bag ($1455). Hated the hair, but worship the Les Miserables star’s soft, embossed faux leather bag. Yep, it’s faux hide and, although we are big carne asada fans, we gave our snarky seal of approval of the richly, textured McCartney fall bags. Leather is always a star player on the runways, but if you’re a fashion veggie, McCartney’s Fall 2012 handbag collection could be your new BFF. The fake-bake didn’t prevent the designer’s savoir-faire detail or her sense of all things chic. As any fashion diva knows, unless it’s crucial to fill your bag to the brim with your entire life, this fall season is all about the clutch. And, we are sighing a breath of relief that McCartney did it right on the runway. The Ash Grey Betty Faux Croco Clutch ($910) looks like the real deal, but is definitely not. However, we are warming up to the idea of pairing it with our Sunday Brunch outfit this weekend – we’ll let you know how that goes. We’re still on the fence about the shaggy deer Falabella Fold Over Clutch ($865) – there’s a chance it will end up in the daily-wear rotation, as will the plaited Pembridge Gold Braided Faux VacchettaClutch ($830). But, on Oscar night, you just might see a glimpse of us cavorting with the celebs down the red carpet with our super-sparkly Silver Square Evening Collection Clutch ($1,995). As a side bar, did you hear how PETA was so overwhelmed with excitement about Hathaway’s vegan wedding menu that the animal advocates sponsored a rescued calf on her behalf, as a wedding gift? Not so sure we would register for that one.
