Monday morning’s inauguration festivities were not short on stars or style. From the performers to the guests, everyone was in their Monday best. Katy Perry, who attended the event with boyfriend John Mayer, looked subdued and artsy in Rodarte. The songstress, who performed at Saturday’s Kids’ Inaugural Concert, wore an orange and black striped coat and a matching dress underneath from the designers Fall/Winter 2012 collection. She topped off the outfit with black boots, black sunglasses, and a black fedora. Although the colors are typically Halloween-y, this outfit is most definitely not. It’s so good, in fact, that I’m almost positive Taylor Swift will soon write a song bashing it.
Beyonce, who performed the National Anthem for the occasion, wore a beautiful black velvet and chiffon beaded gown from Emilio Pucci’s Pre-Fall 2013 collection. Accompanied by the U.S. Marine Band, Beyonce blew the crowd (and TV veiwers worldwide) away with her voice and dazzled them with her dress, which she paired with emerald green (the color of the year) earrings. The chiffon cutouts gave the gown some added sexiness while the beading lent some glamorous sparkle. When not performing, she topped off the outfit with a luxurious black Dior fur coat and accessorized with her husband, Jay-Z (do I smell a best dressed couple competition?). If you want Beyonce’s look but don’t exactly have a Pucci budget, Maggy London has a beautiful take on the dress. Their version is shorter (mid-thigh) with three-quarter length sleeves, but at $158 it’s an unbeatable way to get Beyonce’s look for less.
In other Pucci news, the Italian design house has just released the ad campaign for their Spring/Summer 2013 collection. Set to debut in February, the campaign, which features Pucci girl Amber Velletta, showcases some of the most amazing pieces from the collection. Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, who photographed the Fall campaign as well, shot the photos on location at the Villa D’Este in Rome. The background in the photos is so quintessentially Italian that it looks like it’s straight out of Romeo and Juliet. Complete with old fountains covered in moss, crumbling stone stairways, and lush greenery, it’s the perfect compliment to the classic sexiness that the line exudes. The only way you know you’re not in medieval Italy is because the clothes have a definitively modern look.
Amber Velletta, the star of the campaign, looks stunning in a white tunic worn over white pants with white shoes in one shot. In another, she leans against a pillar in a black long-sleeved mini dress, complete with a turtleneck collar, bell sleeves, and gold detailing. Lastly, she lounges next to a fountain wearing a floor length dress in black, white, and varying shades of pink. Her red lips, slicked back blonde hair, and flawless makeup add to her clearly natural beauty. The Revenge star was the model for the Fall 2012 campaign as well, and clearly she is everything that the Pucci girl represents: graceful, sensual, and beautiful.
