All eyes are on Cynthia Rowley’s Spring 2013 collection, Celebrate, especially because our favorite designer ditched the traditional runway show and opted for a more modern and unique catwalk. Rowley’s departure from a conventional fashion ramp has sparked a lot of chatter that will buzz for seasons to come. Held in an a swanky, nine story, abandoned space on Lower Manhattan’s Beekman Street (so mysterious chichi!), Rowley wowed fashionistas and industry folk alike with a two-hour long combination installation and photo shoot. An innovative approach to traditional fashion week, Rowley’s keen sense of her audience and industry translated into an invitation for photographers to shoot the installation from their point of view, thus banishing the unpredictability and sameness of typical runway photography. As the designer celebrated the unveiling of her collection, the colors of rose, pale blue and cream combined with textures, embellishments and patterns lifted the audiences’ spirits as her catwalk illustrated confetti, streamers and a festive feeling that spread like wild fire. Celebrate says “cheers!” to the blossoming spring season and Rowley does not disappoint with the collection’s confetti prints, foiled lace and metallic satchels (the perfect size for a party invite). We feel in love with Rowley’s over-sized T-shirts with super-cute shorts, metallic unitards, jumpsuits and fabulous garden party dresses. Even with a chill in the air, we are dying to get our hands on Celebrate’s accessories. Rowley took the literal meaning of celebration as she created dual-purpose bangles – you can toast to the new season with your Rowley bangle-flask. We also adore the designer’s printed “I love you scarves,” the shiny brocade hats, the nude eyewear with chains and we cannot wait to hit the resorts in Rowley’s charming stingray sandals. Along with her spring collection, Rowley worked with Red Bucket Films to create a visual representation of the spirit of the collection.
