Natalie Portman in Rodarte

By Faith

Natalie Portman dazzled in a red claret silk and tulle gown at the premiere of her new film, Black Swan, at the 2010 Venice Film Festival. It was no surprise that she chose Rodarte as the Mulleavy sisters created costumes for the film.

Portman has been a champion of the brand for sometime now and I must admit that they work perfectly together. A completely elegant yet bold choice. Also under Portman’s belt is a deal as the new face of Parfums Christian Dior.

Visit www.rodarte.net for more information and see looks from the Fall 2010 collection below.

Go Vintage With Patricia Nash Handbags

By Faith

There aren’t many things in life that are better than a vintage bag: the worn-in look and feel of it; the unique and original quality. For Fall, Patricia Nash is giving all us vintage-lovers some handbags to lust over.

The Knoxville, Tennessee based designer has created a line of Italian-leather handbags that are not just beautiful, but wearable. The Praga Flap bag (pictured above) features floral detailing in contrast with the rugged leather for a piece that is feminine, animated and impossibly cool. The pieces have an antique feeling to them and seem to tell a spirited story.

The best part about Patricia Nash’s handbags is that no one piece will cost you more than $250. The Barcellona Saddle bag is available for purchase now and the rest of the collection will be available at www.dillards.com this month.

Jessica Alba in Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2010

By Faith

Despite the gritty nature of her new film, Machete, Jessica Alba went totally feminine at the Venice Film Festival. She chose a long-sleeve floral dress from Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall 2010 collection and in contrast, strappy black leather sandals which added some edge to the ensemble.

Though quite covered up, the look is stunning: eye-catching and chic without going over the top. The heels are a flirtatious juxtaposition and her straight hair and gold bangles are perfect complements.

Visit www.dolceandgabbana.com for more looks from the Fall 2010 Collection and see Alba’s dress on the runway below.

Tweet this Giveaway | A Boudoir Collection Set from Brulee

By Faith

Lingerie as outerwear is a strong trend for Fall, so what does a woman actually wear inside? The answer to that question is Brulee. Brulee is a collection of loungewear pieces that are elegant and sexy, comfortable and completely versatile as well as being perfect for travel. Each piece is crafted by hand in New York City using the most luxurious silk, jersey and cotton materials.

Kristian Giambi is the brain behind the brand and has always been a creative mind in many different mediums. Art and photography have always been strong passions of hers and they led her to create Brulee. Giambi didn’t want to create just any loungewear collection: the pieces needed to be functional and not just pretty, as well as being chic. The most appealing part about Brulee is that the collection is sophisticated and feminine without being overly provocative. The pieces are easy to slip on (and off if you so wish) so they leave you feeling confident, not self-conscious.

Brulee is giving one lucky winner the chance to own a set from the Boudoir Collection including a Camisole and Tap Pant (pictured above), which retails for $170 and is a worthwhile indulgence. Enter the giveaway by tweeting @POSHGLAM and @Brulee and emailing Faith@POSHGLAM.com, subject “Brulee Giveaway”. Also, please include your name, size, mailing address and email address.

Visit www.brulee.net to view the rest of the collection.

*Giveaway ends September 14th 2010 at midnight EST.

Emmy Awards 2010: Get the Look – Emily Blunt’s Sophisticated Updo

By Faith

Emily Blunt dazzled at the 2010 Emmy Awards in a one-shoulder lavender gown with white floral appliqués from Christian Dior’s Resort 2010 collection. She accessorized with a clutch from Lauren Merkin.

Most notable about Blunt’s look was her soft and elegant updo, styled by her long-time stylist, London-born Laini Reeves. Reeves also styled Blunt’s hair for her wedding and is the co-owner of the new Essensuals London Salon on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles.

Reeves was inspired by the finger wave style of the 1920s and wanted to create a look that was fresh yet sophisticated: “We wanted to create a look that was very different from any that Emily had worn before. Once I saw the gown, I knew that a modern look based on the waved looks of the 20’s was the perfect complement for the design.

1. I first shampooed Emily’s hair with Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo to leave it soft, shiny and well conditioned for the intricacies of styling.

2. After mixing a cocktail of Moroccanoil Intense Curl Cream and the original Moroccanoil Treatment, I worked the blend from the middle to the ends of the hair to control ends and flyaways and provide natural, looking, soft hold.

3. Next, I made a low side-part on the right and then pincurled the hair in alternating patterns towards the left and behind the right side. Since Emily’s gown had a beautiful beaded accent on the right shoulder, I wanted to place the hair behind the ear to show this off. I made the pincurls in the classic way, pinning three alternate rows of them.

4. I then misted Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray on Emily’s wet hair and let it air-dry for one hour while make-up was applied. I didn’t use a hairdryer this time since I didn’t want the hair to appear blown in any way. I wanted it to look authentic with all the ends nice and neat, so the waves would look softer yet controlled when they were brushed.

5. Once Emily’s hair had air-dried, I released the pincurls and raked my fingers through her hair. I used a panel brush to keep her hair flat to the head so it wouldn’t disturb the root movement of the wave, and gently brushed from part to ends so her hair fell into a lovely wave.

6. Finally, I shaped and styled the flow of the look by framing the left side of Emily’s face with a cascade of waves. To accent the look, I attached a diamond accessory in the hair above the right ear.

7. Since we wanted the style to look a bit shorter and also accent the nape of her neck, I created a pincurled, textured effect there at the nape. I finished the look with a quick mist of argan oil-infused Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray to give the hair a beautiful hold without compromising on softness, movement or shine.”

Visit www.moroccanoil.com to purchase all the products used to create Emily Blunt’s Emmy look and visit www.essensualslondon.com fore more information on Laini Reeves.

Chloe Sevigny Rocks Ippolita Jewelry

By Faith

Chloe Sevigny never fails in the fashion department. Her style is one-of-a-kind and she goes places that most are afraid to. At HBO’s Post-Emmy Party, she opted for jewels from Ippolita to add some glam to her leopard minidress and Christian Louboutin Madame Butterfly booties.

Ippolita’s design beginnings started in her hometown of Florence where she learned to appreciate Renaissance art and architecture, eventually earning her Baccalaureate in Sculpture from the Istituto d’Arte. Her signature is her gold jewelry which she took months to perfect and which she believes connects her with her customer: “Jewelry is emotional. The very color of my gold jewelry attracts you to it.”

She launched her 18K jewelry collection at Bergdorf Goodman in 1999 and has since risen to fame in the industry. Each of her pieces is made by hand, which makes each piece unique and special.

Sevigny chose Ippolita’s gold Glamazon® Link Necklace and the Glamazon® Link Bracelet which are both available at www.ippolita.com. View her entire look below.

Emmy Awards 2010: Stars in Oscar de la Renta

By Faith

Oscar de la Renta gowns are made for the red carpet, so there was no surprise that stars Lea Michele and Tina Fey wore designs from his Resort 2011 Collection to the 2010 Emmy Awards. Both Fey and Michele were nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy for 30 Rock and Glee.

Though very different in shape, both Fey and Michele looked stunning in form-fitting silhouettes. Fey’s gown was art-deco inspired with black embroidered detailing and she accessorized with a clutch from VBH and jewels from Lorraine Schwartz. Michele opted for a navy taffeta gown with a sweetheart neckline and organza ruffles at the gown’s bottom. It was very much flamenco inspired and matched perfectly with her playful spirit. She accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz jewels as well.

A Rag & Bone Documentary Debuts For Fashion Week

By Faith

When it comes to downtown cool, no brand embodies it better than Rag & Bone. Marcus Wainwright and David Neville are capturing a look that every girl and woman alike wants right now and their efforts are paying off. Their Fall 2010 collection has been their most popular to date and along with its success comes a CFDA win for Menswear and four boutiques under their belts.

R.J. Cutler took note of the design duo’s success and filmed a documentary on the pair while they were preparing for their Fall 2010 runway show. It shows how a small design team operates and the ups and downs that a fashion house experiences while working on cranking out a collection. Cutler has his share of success with fashion documentaries as he is the director of the infamous September Issue. If this is anywhere near as revealing, we are all in for a treat.

Starbucks is sponsoring the documentary which will premiere on September 8th, just in time for the start of Fashion Week. After its premiere, it will be available for viewing at www.rag-bone.com and www.frappuccino.com.

See looks from Rag & Bone’s Resort 2011 Collection below and stay tuned for my review on their Spring 2011 Collection.
