10:am Mercedes Benz Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Week extravaganza has begun and I had mixed emotions about my first day (Friday, September 10th). Walking up to Lincoln Center that morning, I felt anxious and excited to see the collections.
10:30am First up was BCBG Max Azria, It was all about the modern, beautiful, free flowing, and effortlessly chic woman. It was full of vibrant colors and modern femininity. However, One thing I did notice was the lack of color on the runway.
12:00pm My second show of the day was Michael Angel. I was invited to attend backstage and was able to see the models do their run of show and watch hair and makeup get done. The new collection focused on layering. The necklines were high and the hemlines were at a modest level, some of them being asymmetric. There was a mix of bold and subtle colors, as well as a mix of fabrics and textures. The models wore flat shoes and the hair slicked back.
1:30pm My third show of the day, Buckler, brought some change to my schedule as it was a presentation. This collection was complete with staple pieces such as cardigans, leather jackets, and sports jackets which I would love to have in my closet. Each look came together pretty well and allowed for wearing separately. The highlight of the show was seeing my fellow Major Model (Agency) Travis on the runway.
2:00pm My last show of the day was Edition by Georges Chakra. One word, Unbelievable! This collection will be raved about as one of the best shows of the season. From the models, to the music, I can honestly say everything was beautiful and well done. Mini dresses and floor-length gowns graced the runway in a windblown manner. The colors went from aquas to neutrals and made very bold statements. It was an Amazing show. For more of my NYFW coverage, Follow me! @ChrisCollinsRPT
