Daily Shrine | Kate Moss

By Kimberly

Why Kate Moss you ask? Why not? Everyone else is using her! Kate is such a ham, with over 300 mag covers to date, she is most deserving. At her measly height of 5′7 she has been voted one of the most successful supermodels in history, making over 9million a year. “Moss was discovered in 1988 at the age of 14 by Sarah Doukas, the founder of Storm Model Management, at JFK Airport in New York City, after a holiday in Jamaica. Moss’s career began when Corinne Day shot black and white photographs of her, styled by Melanie Ward, for British magazine The Face when she was 15, in a photo shoot titled “The Third Summer of Love”. Moss then went on to become the “anti-supermodel” of the 1990s in contrast to the “supermodels” of the moment, such as Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, and Naomi Campbell, who were known for their curvaceous and tall figures.”(Wikipedia) Her career is still soaring and she’s well into her thirties.  This daily shrine goes to Kate Moss, for Top Shop, Yurman and many more to before!

Social Diary: Tribeca Film Festival

By Natacha

April 22nd marked the beginning of the increasingly pervasive Tribeca Film Festival. In between launch parties and promotional events, there is a schedule jam-packed with some of the year’s most magnetic films. Tonight, two friends and I were invited to screen one such film – the Oscar winner for best foreign film: Departures.

Racing after work to preen and throw on some festival-appropriate attire, I met my friends Sarah and Caroline, with just minutes to spare. Although the theater was already crowded, we nestled ourselves in between some Hollywood hot shots and foreign journalists and tried to equally play the part. After a short introduction from the film’s lead actor, Mashahiro Motoki and director, Yojiro Takita, the screening began. Departures regales the story of a cellist who has suddenly lost his job and is forced to move back to his hometown in Northern Japan. Trying to make ends meet, he takes a job as “encoffiner,” or a funeral professional who prepares deceased bodies for burial and entry into the next life. Against the wishes of his wife and frowns from fellow townspeople, he keeps his job and is taken on a heart-warming journey of self-discovery. Amidst funny anecdotes and touching scenes, Departures proves to be a culturally agnostic triumph, allowing everyone to find a little of their own lives in the characters of the film.

After shedding a few (happy) tears and sharing several laughs, the screening came to a close. My friends and I stuck around for the Q&A session after the film, “hob-knobbing” with all the film types. Once we felt we could small-talk no more, we all decided to it call it a night and retired to the comfort of our own personal screening rooms: our apartments.

Alas, another wonderful New York City night!

Social Diary: The Good, the Bad and the Bunny

By Natacha

When the sun shines high, New Yorkers come out to play. That means the good, the bad, and apparently the bunny. On my way to brunch yesterday, I found this fun furry creature walking the streets, going about his daily business. I think someone forgot to tell him, Easter was about two weeks ago… Regardless, I couldn’t help but smile and think just how amazing this city is. He got a few odd looks, but people just kept walking. It takes all types to make this world go round, and apparently some of them live in Manhattan!

After my little distraction, I headed to one of my favorite brunch places,Felix, in the heart of Soho. Perched on the patio, I found myself in the perfect position for people watching and style stalking.

Amidst mimosas and French toast, Caitlin and I found ourselves ogling beautiful European tourists, and unsuccessfully trying to flag them down.

Finally, we gave up and relinquished ourselves to a day of Soho store-hopping. I bought this great dress at one of my favorite Manhattan stores: Wink.  The ruffles are so feminine yet chic, I just couldn’t turn it down! I can’t wait to pair it with a pair of bright summer pumps and some

funky jewelry. No doubt it will become one of my summer staples.

The best part about the store is that their website (www.WinkNYC.com), is just as chic and you don’t have to wait in line!!

Rock Out in Ted Rossi Jewelry

By Faith

Who doesn’t need a little skin and a little studs in their life?  Ted Rossi gives you both!  The summer is approaching and when the heat hits, I try to keep the clothing minimal and the accessories fun and sexy.  These Python Pyramid Cuffs are just that. They are a favorite of Miley Cyrus.  Who knew that Hannah Montana had an edge?  Here are a few other pieces from Ted Rossi.  Definitely summer essentials.  Put them on the top of your list.

WEB VICE | Lookbook.nu

By Kimberly

Lookbook.nu must be worse than crack, I keep going back, thinking “Are these people models or just amazing at begging people to take pictures”. I am so obsessed. Today is my first day finally visiting the site after seeing it like 10 times on the web (oh shit does it take that many times for people to finally visit POSHGLAM? Hope Not) Anywho, I went and now I keep going back with wondering thoughts. The site makes me think harder than I want to while browsing the web. I wanted to go to the mall like 5 times and escape to Sweden once or twice….It’s invite only, but you can comment with your twitter, which only makes you want to go back even more…..Hmmm I might have a problem!
